The Lone Embie

Not that it makes a huge difference at this point (the plan is still to move on to a fresh cycle), but the one embryo we have left in storage is in pretty good shape. The head doc for the lab returned my call today to give me the details about our lone embie. It's a six-celler, has good morphology and has an overall grading of fair (which, she said, is pretty good even though it sounds sub-par). I don't think we'd have the guts to do a frozen cycle with just one embie, but it's kind of nice to know it's there waiting for us.

On another note, this weekend we're going to see Mike's dad's cousin, Leo -- the man who helped make our two IVF attempts possible. He works in the industry (selling lab equipment to clinics), and through a series of events helped us get our two cycles for nearly nothing. We saw it as an answer to our prayers. We found out later that he had reached out to family members on our behalf, and a well-to-do relative stepped up and fronted the money for our IVF. Over the next couple days, we will see both relatives at a charity golf outing, and we can finally thank them in person. We're also hoping Leo has some news for us. He has taken it upon himself to continue to seek financial backing for our efforts. He's been a true blessing. Wish us luck....
